The First Trailer for Captain Marvel Has Arrived

After months and months of waiting, and a tease of a few images recently, Marvel has finally dropped the first trailer for "Captain Marvel," and in typical fashion, it looks like it's going to be a heck of a thrill ride. Described as an origin story for Carol Danvers, who becomes the titular Captain Marvel during a galactic war, the film is easily among the most anticipated of next year. Personally, I'm really looking forward to this one because I know absolutely nothing of the character, so in a sense, it will be a fresh and new comic book experience among all of the other flicks that feature the more familiar characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Aside from that, there's that incred

The Winners of the 70th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards

The 70th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards have just wrapped up with an incredible finish. For a while there, it seemed as though Outstanding Drama Series was up in the air, but in the end, it was "Game of Thrones" that was victorious. The show finished with nine wins (including its Creative Arts wins last weekend) that also included a surprise win for Peter Dinklage in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category. Over in Comedy, there were very few surprises to be found as "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" swept through most of the major categories for a total of eight wins that included Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress, Outstanding Supporting Actress, Outstanding Di

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom: An Improvement, but Not Nearly Enough (Blu-ray)

The Film: Merely three years ago, “Jurassic World” was unleashed upon the world, marking the long-awaited return of a franchise that had been dormant for 14 long years. To say the film was a disappointment would be quite an understatement, for with its retreaded story, lifeless characters, and monotonous action sequences, it failed to engage on pretty much every level. However, since the film was a gigantic box office hit, we knew a sequel would be coming as soon as one could be churned out, which brings us to “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.” There are a few rare exceptions in the history of cinema where a sequel ends up being better than the original, and given what came before, it’s reall

For months, fans have been waiting patiently to see if David Gordon Green's new "Halloween" flick would be worth it, but the wait is finally over. The film premiered late last night at the Toronto International Film Festival, with the first smattering of review making their way online this morning, and the reactions thus far have been overwhelmingly positive! As of now, 11 reviews have been put up on Rotten Tomatoes, giving the film a solid 100% and a score of 8/10. Here's a sample of what the critics have been saying so far: "Green has pulled off what he set out to do, tying up the mythology that Carpenter and company established, while delivering plenty of fresh suspense - and grisly-creat

The Winners of the 2018 Creative Arts Emmys (Drama, Comedy, and Limited Series/TV Movies, Misc.)

This evening, the Television Academy presented the Creative Arts Emmys for 2018 for the major genres and more, and to absolutely no one's surprise, "Game of Thrones" dominated the evening, taking seven awards that included Visual Effects, Production Design, Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, Music Composition, and Prosthetic Makeup. This puts it pretty far ahead of its closest Drama competitors, "The Handmaid's Tale," "The Crown," and "Westworld," all of which took three awards each. Over in Comedy, "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" has started off strong with three wins of its own, including Comedy Casting. Even before tonight's awards, it has been the presumed favorite to win big on the night of the big s
