The Second Trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi Has Been Unleashed

Ever since fans finally got their first glimpse of footage from "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" back in April (can you believe it's been six months already?), they've been itching to set their sights on more. Well, today Disney has finally granted their wish by dropping the long-awaited second trailer, and boy was it worth the wait.

Just like before, plot details are still being kept under wraps, though we can guess that the film will deal with Rey (Daisy Ridley) training with Luke (Mark Hamill) before rejoining her friends and allies, Finn (John Boyega), Leia (Carrie Fisher), and Poe (Oscar Isaac), to take on the First Order, which includes Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie).

It's fair to say that most fans really enjoyed "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," and that's despite it being an almost beat-for-beat remake of "A New Hope," which is why many have high hopes that "The Last Jedi" will bring a breath of fresh air with it with writer/director Rian Johnson ("Looper," The Brothers Bloom") at the helm. Abrams' film had been a decent start to this new trilogy, but it's definitely time for it to stretch out into new, more compelling directions.

Luckily we don't have very much longer left to wait, as the film is due out in just over two months, once again putting it directly in the middle of the holiday/awards season. Perhaps we'll see a few Oscar nominations come its way like its predecessor? If it delivers above and beyond what "The Force Awakens" gave us, it could definitely happen.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" opens in theaters on December 15, 2017.
