Game of Thrones Dominates Creative Arts Emmys for 2016

Kit Harington in "Game of Thrones"

Today saw the awarding of most of the important creative arts Emmys for 2016, and as expected, "Game of Thrones" came out far ahead of everyone else with a whopping nine wins that included Best Drama Casting, Best Costumes (Period/Fantasy), Best Picture Editing (Single-Camera Drama), Best Production Design (Contemporary/Fantasy), Best Stunt Coordination (Drama/Mini/Movie), and Best Visual Effects.

Also as expected, "American Crime Story: The People v O.J. Simpson" has also started to rack up some early Emmy wins for itself, including Best Casting for a Movie or Miniseries, Best Sound Mixing (Movie/Mini), Best Single-Picture Camera Editing (Mini/Movie), and Best Hairstyling (Movie/Mini). It may seem like a somewhat low amount at the moment, but just remember that most of its nominations are in the major categories, including a nod for Outstanding Limited Series, six individual nominations for acting, three for directing, and three for writing. At the moment, most are predicting it to win each of the major categories it's competing in.

However, all eyes will once again be on "Game of Thrones" to see if it can break (or at least tie) the record it set last year with 12 wins for a single season. It certainly could happen. With nine already under its belt, and a great chance at winning Outstanding Drama Series, Directing (Drama), Writing (Drama), Supporting Actor (Drama), and Supporting Actress (Drama), it might very well shatter the record once more. We'll just have to wait until next Sunday, September 18th, to see how it all goes down.
