The First Thrilling Trailer for Robert Zemeckis' Allied Has Arrived

At long last, Paramount has finally dropped the first trailer for Robert Zemeckis' World War II thriller "Allied," starring Brad Pit and Marion Cotillard.

The film tells tells "the story of intelligence officer Max Vatan (Pitt), who in 1942 North Africa encounters French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war."

It's only a brief, minute-long trailer, but it gives us a good idea of what kind of film we'll be getting, and it certainly looks intriguing to say the least. The amount of talent involved alone (Oscar nominee Brad Pitt and Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, in addition to Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis and Oscar-nominated screenwriter Steven Knight) was enough to get me intrigued even before this incredible looking trailer was unveiled, but now that we've finally gotten some footage, it appears to be shaping up to be something rather spectacular.

It's interesting to note that the film is positioned in a prime spot for awards season, so it stands to reason that Paramount believes that they have something really good on their hands, and from the look of it, they very well might. It seems like it's been a good long while since there's been an impressive war film (ironically, "Inglourious Basterds," which also starred Brad Pitt, is the only one that immediately comes to mind from the last decade), so such a film of high caliber seems very much overdue. Hopefully, it will deliver just what we're looking for.

Robert Zemeckis' "Allied" arrives in theaters on November 23rd, 2016.
