The Nice Guys Comes to Digital HD August 9th and Blu-ray/DVD August 23rd

Warner Bros. has just announced that it will be bringing "The Nice Guys," starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, to Digital HD on August 9th and Blu-ray/DVD August 23rd. The film has received heaps of praise, earning an amazing 91% (7.6/10) on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising its screenplay and the chemistry between its two leads.

For those unfamiliar with the film, here's a brief synopsis:

Set in 1970s Los Angeles, down-on-his-luck private eye Holland March (Gosling) and hired enforcer Jackson Healy (Crowe) must work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. During their investigation, they uncover a shocking conspiracy that reaches up to the highest circles of power.

I've yet to see it myself, but I'm certainly looking forward to it. If for nothing else, it will certainly be fascinating to see how well Academy Award winner Russell Crowe, known for his dramatic work in movies like "Gladiator" and "A Beautiful Mind," handles a comedy film. After his less-than-memorable appearance on "Saturday Night Live," I would have to hope that it turns out better, but with the reviews it's been getting, it looks like something must have gone right.

The home release will include two featurettes, one which has the mysterious title of "Always Bet on Black" (my bet would be that this is a short behind the scenes look that includes snippets of interviews), while the other is a "making of" entitled "Worst. Detectives. Ever. The Making of The Nice Guys" (the DVD will only contain the former).

Again, those dates are August 9th for Digital HD and August 23rd for Blu-ray/DVD, so whether you already enjoyed it and want to see it again, or you're curious to see it for the first time (like me), you don't have very long to wait.
